Chapter 12: Shameless, too shameless! (2)

“Dad, Dad, hurry up!” Zhou’ger stomped his feet, his eyes shining.

Although He Shaoting still had a calm face, he unconsciously tightened his cuff and stared at him without blinking, obviously waiting for his question.

Tang Song Nian cleared his throat. “Okay, let’s get started. I’ll direct this question to Zhou’ger first. Complete the proverb: A jade that is not cut will never be of use.”

Brother Zhou’s eyes lit up, and he answered loudly, “If one does not learn, one does not understand the etiquette and cannot become a talent.”

“Correct answer; here’s your reward!” Tang Song Nian put a red cherry into his stretched little chubby hand.

Zhou’ger threw into his mouth, and a tempting taste filled his mouth, causing him to smile with big round eyes.

Xu Yun Yao was relieved unconsciously.

In her last life, she came from a poor family and was also a girl to boot. Later, she was sold as a maid, so she had no chance to read and write. However, she understood the reason why she could not be illiterate.

Tang Song Nian nodded now and then. It seemed that the child had received a good early education.

“The answer is correct. You also get a fruit!” After the clear recitation ended, he smiled and put a cherry into He Shaoting’s hands.

He Shaoting pursed his lips, and a slight smile appeared on his face.

He held the red fruit lovingly in his hands while taking small bites, relishing the sweet, slightly sour, tantalizing taste before eating it clean.

Xu Yun Yao unconsciously grabbed her clothes’ corner. Her black and white eyes stared at Tang Song Nian, waiting for his next question.  

“Daddy or Mommy, who do you like more?”

“Mother!” she answered without thinking.

“Wrong answer. There is no fruit!” Tang Songnian threw a cherry into his mouth without any care.

Xu Yun Yao: “…”

She clenched her fist and tried to suppress the urge to hit someone. Damned old man, it must be intentional!

“Who is Zhou’ger’s grandfather?”

“I know, I know. It’s Daddy’s Dad!” Brother Zhou raised his hands high and answered loudly.

“Correct answer. Here’s your fruit!”

“Where is Ting’ ger’s father’s hometown?”  

“Danyang County, Guangping Prefecture!” Zhou’ger’s emotions unconsciously infected He Shaoting. His eyes bright, he quickly gave the answer.

“Correct answer. Here’s your fruit!”  

“Little Treasure prefers Daddy or Mommy?” Tang Songnian looked at his daughter with a smile.

Xu Yun Yao was extremely angry. This old man was doing it on purpose!

She replied even louder than before, “Mom!”

“Wrong answer. No fruit!” Tang Songnian ate another cherry in one bite.

Xu Yun Yao almost killed him with her glare. Her eyes shot straight at Tang Songnian like a sharp blade. Damn old man!

The question and answer continued, and unknowingly, Tang Songnian had fewer and fewer fruits left. He also asked a question about He Shaoting’s life and family background without raising any suspicions.

“Mom likes Zhou’ger or Dad?”

“Zhou’ger!”

“The answer is correct. Here’s your fruit.” This really was a sad answer, but compared to him, his wife indeed preferred her son.

“Brother Ting likes Aunt or Father?”

“Aunt!”

“Correct. Here you go.” It seemed that the child’s father was not very competent!

“Little Treasure prefers Daddy or Mommy?”  

Xu Yun Yao was going crazy. She had been asked the same question several times in a row, and the answer was still determined to be wrong. Even though she knew that the old man was playing with her intentionally, she just refused to do what he wanted. Again, she shouted with a firm mind, “Mother! Mother! Mother!”

“The answer is wrong; the answer is wrong; the answer is wrong. There is no fruit!” Tang Song Nian ate the last cherry in one bite, took the handkerchief from the side, wiped his hands, and then rubbed his daughter’s hair. He smiled lovingly and encouraged her. “Little Treasure needs to learn more and strive for better results in the coming year!”

After that, he got up and patted his butt, gracefully walking away…

Zhou’ger and He Shaoting looked at the girl who had not answered correctly, their eyes full of sympathy.

It was so sad. She didn’t even get any fruit…

Xu Yun Yao was hopping mad, and the small flame in her eyes raged with fury.
