Chapter 27: Midnight Memories (1)

He Yu had business parties to attend almost every night, and he never asked her to come along. In fact, even if he did, Su Qiuzi wouldn’t have come along. Su Qiuzi’s perception of herself was positioned accurately; she was He Yu’s wife, but she was also Su Gongcheng’s daughter. The two families had grudges and, even though they were on friendly terms, they were still a thorn in their own side. Her marriage with He Yu was destined to end from the beginning.

There was no need for affection between them. Their lives didn’t overlap too much, and the two remained respectful and were already in the best state of their marriage.

Even though she called He Yu tonight, Su Qiuzi didn’t harbor any hopes that he would come. But, regardless of whether he came or not, Su Qiuzi had kindly considered what Miao Hualing had said previously in her heart.

However, to her surprise, He Yu answered the phone and agreed without saying a word. Half an hour later, the man entered the cinema, and Su Qiuzi saw him as soon as she raised her eyes from her seat.

He did stick out in the crowd, and not just because he was tall and handsome looking. It was also because he was well-dressed, dignified, and had the charm of a mature man, somewhat at odds with the noisy atmosphere and crowds in the cinema.

Upon seeing him, Su Qiuzi got up from her seat. As the man’s eyes found her, a hint of amusement flashed in his deep eyes, and he walked over confidently.

Su Qiuzi felt a little uncomfortable under his intense gaze and, just as the movie was about to start, she raised the tickets and smiled at He Yu. “Let’s go check-in.”

“Okay.” He Yu agreed, looked down at her empty hands, and said to her, “Wait a minute,” then got up and left.

Su Qiuzi watched his figure blend into the crowd. Not long after, he came back bringing two boxes of popcorn and two Cokes over.

“I see them all with this.” He Yu seldom watched movies in such cinemas. He handed Su Qiuzi a box of popcorn and a Coke.

Su Qiuzi looked at the boy next to her who was also handing out Coke and popcorn to his girlfriend and felt a little subtle for a moment. But then she remembered that there was no need for it, the two were a legal couple with a marriage certificate.

Thinking of this, Su Qiuzi took it and said with a smile: “Thank you.”

Su Qiuzi chose the spot in the middle of the cinema. Soon after the two went inside and sat down, the movie started. Xu Zhi’s film was a mystery one this time, which was released a few days ago and received a good reputation for it was extremely brain freezing.

Originally, Su Qiuzi was worried about whether He Yu would dislike it or not, but soon she herself was drawn over to the drama. The movie was just about to get serious when the young girl sitting in front of her suddenly spoke to her friend, “Don’t be afraid, the killer is not this man.”

The person next to her asked, “Yeah, I know you already watched it. Tell me, which girl did Xu Zhi end up with? The doctor or the nurse?”

The young girl said, “Nurse, he ended up married to a nurse. The doctor got killed by the killer.”

“Huh? Who is the killer?”

Su Qiuzi: “…”

Not even twenty minutes into the film’s opening and the plot of what transpired next was about to be spoiled. Su Qiuzi was so anxious that she was just about to stop them when someone next to her reached out and gently knocked on the seat in front.

The two young girls got excited about the discussion and were a little annoyed to be interrupted once they turned back. Upon seeing the person behind them, the expressions on their faces were all in one fell swoop.

“I’m sorry, would it be possible for you to stop talking?” He Yu asked softly.

The two young girls glanced at each other first, and somewhat blushing, the spoiler young girl whispered meekly, “Okay.”

He Yu smiled faintly and handed over the popcorn in his hand, saying, “As a thank you, this is for you to eat. I haven’t touched it.”

The young girls blushed again and picked up the popcorn. Su Qiuzi heard them stomp their feet, suppressing the impulse to scream.

Su Qiuzi looked at the popcorn that had been given and leaned her body towards He Yu’s side. “It’s their fault, you don’t have to give them popcorn.”

He Yu’s tall figure had his head slightly bowed in silence as she spoke. When she finished, he turned his head and smiled at her, the light from the movie screen layering a shattering light under his deep eyes.

“Give them something to eat, and they won’t have a chance to talk.” He Yu explained.

A man had his own code for doing things, and he was good at solving problems in one step. Despite understanding his approach, Su Qiuzi still felt some pity, especially after she finished the popcorn in her hand.

She fumbled halfway through and looked down to see that the popcorn box was empty. She sighed lightly and set the empty box aside, turning her head to take the Coke next to her.

As she went to get her Coke, a hand caught hers, the palm was somewhat warm. Su Qiuzi snapped in her heart and turned her head to look over, discovering that an object had been stuffed in her hand.

He Yu smiled lightly at her, and Su Qiuzi opened her palm to see that it was a chocolate lollipop.

“Got it as a bonus for the popcorn.” The man said, “Eat it, it’s sweet.”

Before the lollipop even made it into her mouth, Su Qiuzi’s heart was already a little sweet.
