Chapter 5: This Palace is angry! (3)

Wang-shi’s face turned white, and she murmured, “After all these days, you still blame me. But… his mother is difficult to deal with. If there is anything wrong with him, not only will I be poked behind my back, even you will inevitably be pointed out.”

“All I know is that as long as one has a clear conscience and an open mind, he is not afraid of any strange sight in the world. Besides…” He paused but did not refrain from speaking, “Besides, since you knew his mother was a headache, why did you agree to this marriage?”

At the moment, Ruan-shi was in the outer chamber, talking to a woman. Cui Wen and Bi Wen had their own errands, so in the room, there were only two siblings, Zhou Ge and Xu Yun Yao.

Xu Yun Yao was still learning to walk with a pair of short legs. Now, she could take a few steps without being helped, and she could also speak more, even though limited to single words only. 

No matter how Ruan-shi, Cui Wen, and Bi Wen coaxed her, she refused to call her father but spoke Mother every time. Instead, she just pretended to be silly and smiled sweetly at them. Everyone’s heart would melt with her smile, so they could only drop the matter. 

Zhou Ge was still holding his cloth tiger and was having a great time listening to its cries. After a while, he grabbed the tiger’s tail and shook it vigorously. Dang! Zhou Ge did not firmly grasped the cloth tiger, and it took off from his hand. The whole “tiger” slammed into Ruan-shi’s basket filled with bundles of cotton thread on the round table.

The basket wobbled and eventually fell from the table with a crushing force. It happened to land at the feet of Xu Yun Yao, who was walking in a crooked manner. Several bundles of cotton thread also hung on her.

Xu Yun Yao was startled and fell to the ground without standing firm. Then Zhou Ge, who ran to pick up the cloth tiger, stared at her with his small eyes.

Suddenly, there was a burst of footsteps outside. Before Xu Yun Yao could react, she saw Brother Zhou’s eyes turned to the cloth tiger, holding it.

Thud! Thud!

Then he turned around and ran outside, shouting, “Mom, sister knocked over your basket!”

What?

Her eyes widened in disbelief. She hurried to pull the cotton thread on her body, but the more urgent she was, the tighter the thread became. She was so anxious that her little face became red. Lost, she casually lifted her eyes and saw Ruan-shi’s eyes full of disapproval.

Ruan-shi caressed her forehead and rushed forward to rescue her cocoon-wrapped daughter. However, the well-arranged thread was messed up and could not be used.

She deliberately reprimanded. “You’re being a bad girl by not obeying. Look at you; you’ve broken your mother’s cotton thread. Don’t be naughty again next time!”

Xu Yun Yao felt aggrieved and angry, especially when she saw Zhou Ge leaning behind Ruan-shi’s back and sticking out his tongue at her. She grew even more furious. 

“I didn’t…”

She cried loudly, but the last two words could not be uttered. The more anxious she was, the more she let out a squawking noise.

“No, no…” Not me, not me.

Seeing that her daughter did something wrong and did not repent, even though Ruan-shi had a good temper, she frowned at the moment, patiently teaching her.

“It doesn’t matter if you do something wrong. However, a good girl knows her mistake and changes it.”

Xu Yun Yao clapped angrily on the embroidered pier and shouted, “Ba… ba… ba…”

Not me, not me, not me!

Ruanshi frowned again and gently patted her daughter’s little ass. “Don’t say no. Luckily, the scissors haven’t been put in the basket; otherwise, what would I do if it fell and hurt you?” 

At the thought of this possibility, Ruan-shi couldn’t help feeling a little scared.

Although Ruan-shi’s spanks did not hurt at all, Xu Yun Yao felt profoundly insulted. But no matter how hard she tried to explain, she couldn’t say an entire word. She was so angry that she clapped harder and harder at the embroidered pier and screamed, “No…”

This palace is angry! How can there be such a stupid woman in the world!!
